An exact relation between free energy fluctuations and bond chaos in the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick model
Using a variant of the interpolating Hamiltonian technique, we show that there exists, in the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick spin glass, an exact connection between the sample-to-sample fluctuations of the free energy and bond chaos involving 2and 4-replica overlaps between replicas with different but correlated bonds. This relation is used to derive an upper bound of the fluctuations. PACS numbers: 7...
متن کاملTemperature chaos and bond chaos in Edwards-Anderson Ising spin glasses: domain-wall free-energy measurements.
Domain-wall free energy sigmaF, entropy sigmaS, and the correlation function C(temp) of sigmaF are measured independently in the four-dimensional +/-J Edwards-Anderson (EA) Ising spin glass. The stiffness exponent theta, the fractal dimension of domain walls d(s), and the chaos exponent zeta are extracted from the finite-size scaling analysis of sigmaF, sigmaS, and C(temp), respectively, well i...
متن کاملChaos in the Core-Periphery Model
This paper shows that the standard continuous-time core-periphery model – the foundation of the New Economic Geography – is not robust: simply reformulating it in discrete time has profound implications. The continuous-time model can only exhibit stationary long-term behavior, and high transport costs are perceived as stabilizing. In contrast, the discrete-time model can exhibit cycles of any p...
متن کاملChaos in the Hodgkin-Huxley Model
The Hodgkin–Huxley model was developed to characterize the action potential of a squid axon. It has served as an archetype for compartmental models of the electrophysiology of biological membranes. Thus the dynamics of the Hodgkin–Huxley model have been extensively studied both with a view to their biological implications and as a test bed for numerical methods that can be applied to more compl...
متن کاملChaos in the random field Ising model
The sensitivity of the random field Ising model to small random perturbations of the quenched disorder is studied via exact ground states obtained with a maximum-flow algorithm. In one and two space dimensions we find a mild form of chaos, meaning that the overlap of the old, unperturbed ground state and the new one is smaller than 1, but extensive. In three dimensions the rearrangements are ma...
